CLERMONT, Fla. – Junior midfielder
Patrick White (Milton, MA) scored five goals to lead Western New England to an impressive 12-9 victory over St. Lawrence at the National Training Center (NTC) on Friday (Mar. 18) afternoon.
Western New England improves to 3-2 on the season; while St. Lawrence slips to 0-3 on the year.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead at 4-1 with five minutes remaining in the opening period.
The Golden Bears answered back by scoring six straight goals after senior midfielder
Mike Santare (South Salem, NY) scored on a feed from junior attacker
Andrew Mariani (East Brunswick, NJ) to ignite the rally.
Santare finished with a total of five points on the day (four goals, one assist).
Also scoring goals for the Golden Bears were Mariani, senior midfielder
Colin Houlihan (Yorktown Heights, NY), and sophomore midfielder
Corey Johnson (Maybrook, NY).
The Saints were led by junior attackers
Kyle Jacobsen (Montville, NJ) and
Caldwell Rohrback (Seattle, WA) who each contributed three goals.
Junior goalkeeper
Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) was sensational down the stretch, making nine saves in the final period to preserve the win. He finished with 16 saves on the afternoon.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jack Nuland (Ridgefield, CT) made 14 saves for the Saints.
Western New England returns to the field on Tuesday (Mar. 22) to host New England College at 4:00 p.m. in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) match-up.
