AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Western New England baseball team banged out 21 hits in rolling to a seven-inning 14-1 victory over UMass Dartmouth Sunday (Mar. 18). The Golden Bears improved to 4-2 while the Corsairs suffered their first loss in four outings.
Sophomore first baseman
Steve Ambrosino (Laurel Hollow, NY) went 4-for-4 with two RBI to pace the attack. Junior center fielder
Casey Dadio (Branford, CT) had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Junior center fielder
Matt Anthonis (Guilford, CT) also collected three hits and scored three runs.
Junior left fielder
Taylor Perun (Plainville, CT) had a single, double, and three RBI. Sophomore shortstop
Kyle McKelvey (Schenectady, NY) contributed two hits and scored three times while senior designated hitter
Mike Taylor (Andover, MA) also chipped-in with two hits.
Western New England scored seven runs in the first inning with the big blow a two-run homer by sophomore second baseman
Taylor Searles (Seymour, CT).
Senior pitcher
Mark DiTommaso (Hebron, CT) gave up only five hits with a run, two walks, and five strikeouts in six innings to gain his first win of the season.
UMass Dartmouth scored its only run in the fourth on a run-scoring double by freshman third baseman
