WILLAMSTOWN, Mass. – Western New England broke aclose game open with six runs in the fourth inning en route to a 14-6 victory over Williams in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday (Apr. 17) at Bobby Coombs Field.
The Golden Bears pounded out 20 hits off four pitchers in raising their record to 20-9. The Ephs drop to 9-15.
WNE led 1-0 before sending 11 batters to the plate in the fourth. The Golden Bears added three runs in the seventh and four in the eighth.
Junior left fielder
Taylor Perun (Plainville, CT) continued to play well by going 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and a RBI.
Sophomore center fielder
Jeff Schult (Wappingers Falls, NY) contributed three singles, a run, and three RBI. He also stole two bases.
Junior second baseman
Tim Clark (West Springfield, MA) and junior shortstop
Kyle McKelvey (Schenectady, NY) each had three hits with a run scored, and run batted-in.
Junior catcher
Tom Booth (Milford, CT) had one of his best games with a single, double, two runs scored, and three RBI. Junior third baseman
Mike Rubino (Northford, CT) chipped-in with a single, double, run, and RBI.
Senior designated hitter
Mike Taylor (Andover, MA) reached base three times via a single and two walks. He also scored three times and knocked in a run.
Senior
Mark DiTommaso (Hebron, CT) pitched six-and-a third innings allowing five runs and seven hits. He walked three and fanned four in winning his third decision without a loss.
