WENHAM, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder
Anna Blomberg (Simsbury, CT) scored eight goals with an assist to lead third-seeded Gordon to a 20-12 victory over sixth-seeded Western New England Saturday (Apr. 28) in a quarterfinal round game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Blomberg tallied five of her goals in the opening half, including a key shot with her team down a player with 52 seconds left, for a 9-9 tie at the break.
The Fighting Scots outscored the Golden Bears 11-3 in the second stanza to break a halftime tie,
Gordon started by getting five of the first six goals after intermission to take a 14-10 advantage with 19:42 to play.
Senior midfielder
Liz McRoberts (Bourne, MA) fired-in her second goal of the game at the 18:54 mark to cut the margin to three before Gordon scored four straight times (including two by Blomberg) to take an 18-11 lead with 7:40 remaining.

Jordan Alexander (Portland, ME) also had a big game for the hosts with five goals and four assists. Senior attacker

Danielle Maguire (Braintree, MA) played a key role in the win by making 15 saves (including nine in the second half).
Western New England received a terrific performance from sophomore midfielder
Jessica Scannapieco (Blue Bell, PA) who netted five goals.
Senior attacker
Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) hit the net three times and had three assists along with five draw controls. Senior midfielder
Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY) notched a goal and assist.
Freshman goalie
Emily Castleman (Wilbraham, MA) stopped 14 shots and allowed 17 goals in 51 minutes. Classmate
Melissa Perry (Somers, CT) had a save and three goals allowed.
Western New England ends its season with a 6-12 record.
Gordon (13-3) will visit second-seeded University of New England (12-4) on Wednesday (May 2).
