SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Ryan Murphy scored his fourth goal of the game, unassisted, with just 3 seconds remaining to lift visiting Springfield to an 11-10 victory Saturday over No. 16-ranked Western New England in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Golden Bear Stadium. The Golden Bears level off to the .500-mark at 4-4 while the Pride improve to 2-6 on the season.

Trailing 10-8 with under 2 minutes left, Western New England tied the contest on long-range goals by Jez and Knapton 1 minute and 1 second apart.
On the ensuing face-off, Branden Fernandez won it with a ground ball with 32 seconds to go to set up the last possession of the game in favor of the Pride. After a WNE foul near the right sideline, Murphy worked inside to get past a Golden Bear defender and then he flicked a shot over the right shoulder of WNE sophomore goalkeeper

Body finished with a career-high 17 saves, including seven in the first quarter alone to help keep Western New England in front, 2-1, after 15 minutes. That was the only time the Golden Bears led on the afternoon.
Western New England won the ground ball battle by a 32-29 count, but Springfield scored several times off possession after winning 16 of 25 face-offs. Junior

Fernandez, who scooped up a game-high 12 ground balls, won the opening face-off and raced down the field to give Springfield a 1-0 after just 6 ticks off the clock.
The game between crosstown rivals was extremely close, featuring six ties and neither team leading by more than two.
