Ryan Marcus and sophomore
Jon Bota scored four points apiece to lead visiting Western New England University to a 16-7 victory Saturday evening at Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse action. The Golden Bears improve to 9-5 overall and 7-0 in the CCC, while the Colonels drop to 7-8 and 0-7.
Bota tied all goal-scorers with three while Marcus potted two, and teammates senior
James Reardon added two goals, junior
Owen Caruso contributed three assists and junior
Adam Knapton scored a goal and assisted on two others.
Connor Arnold led Curry with three goals, John Castellano added two goals and an assist, and Andrew Navoni contributed a goal and two helpers.
Western New England outscored Curry 8 to 1 in the second quarter to seize control of the game and head into the intermission with a commanding 11-2 halftime advantage.
Besides the scoreboard, the Golden Bears also dominated in shots (41-16), shots on goal (26-12), face-off wins (21-5) and ground balls (20-12). Western New England also went 25-for-25 on clearing attempts and committed just three turnovers.
Junior
Jesse DeLucca led WNE at the "X" with a 13-for-16 performance in face-offs. Freshman
David Cedrone also played well at the "X" by winning seven of nine face-offs.
Freshman
Taylor Dubose led the Golden Bears with four ground balls and Knapton had three.
Sophomore
Brandon Body played the first 49 minutes and 12 seconds in goal for WNE to earn the victory, making four saves.
