Cassidy Robinson's Two Goals Doom Visiting Golden Bears in Double Overtime, 2-1

Box Score SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.--Western New England University dominated the stat sheet at Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday evening, but couldn't solve Cassidy Robinson's two goals--including the game winner in the second overtime--as the host Lyons prevailed 2-1 in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at MHC Field. The Golden Bears are now 2-4-1 on the season while the Lyons draw even at 3-3.

Robinson scored in the 107th minute on an assist from Rebecca Levkowicz, who had dribbled down the right side, to give Mount Holyoke the sudden-victory.

Western New England's Emma Norden, a junior, got the equalizer to force overtime in the 63rd minute, taking a feed from classmate Becca Mercieri. Norden leads the team with two goals and four points. Norden corralled the loose ball in front and dribbled down the middle to send it into the lower left corner.

After a scoreless first half, Mount Holyoke drew first blood in the 51st minute when Tori Shaffrey found Robinson for a 1-0 advantage. Shaffrey passed the ball into the middle where Robinson received it, dribbled around a defender and fired it into the high left corner.

The Golden Bears dominated the contest statistically, including 10-4 in shots, 6-3 shots on goal and 6-3 in corner kicks.

Senior Tayler Mazurski led WNE with five shots and Norden added three. The Golden Bears had several chances during the first overtime to grab the winner. Off a solid corner, Mazurski sent a shot in low off a narrow angle that was saved by the keeper.

Junior Casey Magee made her first start of the season in the Golden Bears goal, finishing with one save. Her counterpart Zoe Marshall (2-1 record), who saw a heavy WNE attack, posted a game-high five saves.

Both teams return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Western New England traveling to Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I., for a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up, while Mount Holyoke opening its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference schedule at home against Babson.
