Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla.--Western New England cranked out a season-high 12 hits against UMass-Dartmouth on Friday to conclude its 2015 RussMatt Central Florida Baseball Invitational schedule at Chain O'Lakes Field#2, but the Golden Bears' furious rally fell short in a 13-9 loss to the Corsairs.

Steve Buckley went 2-for-4, including a home run, with five runs batted in, two runs scored and a walk to pace the WNE offense. Junior
Kevin Marciano also had two hits.
UMass-Dartmouth raced to an 11-1 lead after three innings but the Golden Bears scored three times in the fifth and five runs in the next frame to get within striking distance. Buckley sent a three-run blast over the left field fence to start the rally and he had a two-run single to center in the sixth.

Brett Morgan delivered a two-run double to left field to begin the Golden Bears' sixth and freshman
Steve Rivela doubled down the right field line to plate another run to cap it. Both players entered the contest as pinch-hitters.
The Corsairs pounded out a season-best 16 hits, including five doubles and a triple, en route to its highest offensive production of the campaign. Senior Ryan Medeiros registered a pair of doubles and three RBI, while classmate Alex Newton went 3-for-4 with a two-bagger and two runs scored.
Junior George Bent earned his first victory of the season, allowing two earned runs on five hits over the course of five innings. The junior right-hander struck out a season-high seven batters and issued one walk on 101 total pitches.

Matt Thomas limited the Corsairs to two runs (one earned) on six hits over the last 6-2/3 innings to give the Golden Bears a chance.
Western New England is scheduled to play nationally-ranked Southern Maine (No. 11 D3baseball.com/No. 13 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper) at 11 a.m. Sunday at a neutral site, Trinity Stadium in Haverhill, Mass. The Golden Bears are scheduled to have their home opener on Monday against Gordon College for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Trelease Park, commencing the Commonwealth Coast Conference circuit.
