Box Score AMHERST, Mass.--Junior attack
Taylor Dubose led Western New England University with a season-high two goals, but the Golden Bears couldn't contain the 1-2 scoring punch of Kane Haffey and Quinn Moroney in a 15-6 non-conference loss at nationally No. 10-ranked Amherst College on Wednesday evening at Gooding Field. Western New England falls to 1-2 overall while the Lord Jeffs improve to 2-0.
Haffey tallied five goals and Moroney (6 ground balls) led all scorers with 10 points on two goals and eight assists for Amherst, which outshot WNE 50 to 30.

David Cedrone won 9-of-18 face-offs at the "X" and led the Golden Bears with five ground balls. Starting senior goalie
Brandon Body had 15 saves and scooped up four ground balls. Classmate
Cam Gormley played the final 8 minutes and 52 seconds in the cage, recording three saves on four shots while allowing one goal.

Mike Jednak had the best chance to get WNE on the scoreboard first but his shot hit the post with 8:44 left in the first quarter. Chris Albanese an
d Dylan Park gave Amherst a 2-0 lead with goals 2:07 apart, beginning at the 7:38 mark. Senior
Jake Fishter cut the deficit in half with his second goal of the season at 1:47 showing on the clock.
In the second quarter, Amherst scored five of the six goals to take a commanding 7-2 advantage going into the intermission. Senior
Jon Bota caused an Amherst turnover after a face-off win and scored 13 seconds after Mike Litner had given the Lord Jeffs a 3-1 lead at 11:49.
Amherst, which also enjoyed advantages in ground balls (49-37), clears (21-for-22, 17-for-23), face-off wins (14-11) and turnovers (15-20), outscored the Golden Bears 8-4 in the second half. Haffey notched three of the Lord Jeffs' four goals in the third stanza. Dubose found the back of the net for both of WNE's goals in the frame.
Reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore
Justin Bard scored his Golden Bears-leading eighth goal of the season in the fourth and Jednak also found the cage for WNE later in the period.
Cody Tranbarger played the first 56:26 and made 12 saves to pick up the win; he allowed five goals.
Today's contest was supposed to take place at Golden Bear Stadium in Springfield, but WNE's home facility was unplayable for intercollegiate competition due to snow and ice on the field.
Western New England will play next Wednesday at another New England Small College Athletic Conference member in Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., beginning at 4 p.m.
