Jon Bota scored a game-high five points to lead five other teammates who scored at least two goals as the Western New England University men's lacrosse team routed host Curry College, 15-4, for its sixth win in a row on Saturday at Walter M. Katz Field. The Golden Bears up their overall record to 9-4, including 5-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, while the Colonels dip to 4-8 on the season and 1-4 in the CCC.
Bota finished with a hat trick and two assists, followed by sophomore

Max Berteletti (1 assist) and freshman
Marc Fiocco with two goals apiece.

Ronald Jensen led Curry with a goal and an assist, and John McMenomey, Brandon Flaim, and Joseph Shea also found the net.
Western New England sprung out to an 8-0 advantage in the first 15 minutes of play. Bard was first to get on the board at the 14:30 mark. Four of Bard's five points came in the first period as he tallied two goals and two assists. Bota had three of his five in the opening period on two tallies and a helper. Other goal scorers were Berteletti, Mullins and
Jednak (5 ground balls) and
Fiocco.
The Golden Bears netted the first three of the second period off the sticks of Jednak, Mullins and freshman
Justin Holl. With 5:09 left in the first half, the Colonels got on the board. Jensen sent a pass to Flaim who found the back of the net for his lone goal of the game. Bota answered back for WNE at 2:31 as the Golden Bears headed into the halftime break with a commanding 12-1 advantage.
The Golden Bears outshot the Colonels 50-31 and held a 34-31 ground ball advantage. Western New England was successful on 17 of 19 clears and won 12 out of the 22 face-offs. Curry went 10-22 on face-offs and 15-19 on clears.
The Golden Bears will next be in action on Tuesday when they face Roger Williams at home, starting at 7 p.m. in Golden Bear Stadium. The Colonels also play that night when they host the University of New England with a start time of 7 p.m.
