DAVENPORT, Fla. (March 19, 2016) - The Western New England University men's lacrosse team fell to St. Lawrence University in its spring break finale, 14-6, this afternoon at Northeast Regional Park.
Western New England trailed just 3-2 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime, before the Saints pulled away with a 5-1 third quarter advantage and held the Golden Bears to just two goals over the final 30 minutes to secure the win.

Justin Bard (Westfield, Mass.) led the Western New England offense with two goals, while senior
Patrick Dillon (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman
Jared Ward (Littleton, Mass.) registered two points each (one goal, one assist).

Conor Healey (Southborough, Mass.) paced St. Lawrence with a game-high eight points, netting four goals and setting up four others. Four additional Saints chipped in with two goals each, including senior
Jeremy Vautour (Hampton, N.B.), who also posted four ground balls and caused one turnover.

Ryan Fisher (Greenwich, Conn.) earned the win in the cage with ten saves on 16 Western New England shots, while sophomore
Steven Kerr (Hopkinton, Mass.) took the loss for the Golden Bears after allowing 14 goals on 20 shots.
Bard staked Western New England to a 1-0 advantage just 1:30 into the contest with an unassisted goal, and the Golden Bears led 2-1 following Ward's tally on a feed from Dillon midway through the period.
The Saints responded by reeling off six straight scores, however, opening up a 7-2 lead with 3:48 left in the half. Healey registered a hat trick during the run, which Bard halted with his second goal of the contest with 1:50 on the clock. Western New England was able to cut its deficit to three (7-4) heading into the break as Ward found Dillon with just ten seconds remaining.
St. Lawrence took control of the game in the third quarter, utilizing a 5-0 run with five different goal scorers over the first 9:20 of the period to claim a 12-4 lead. Junior
Max Berteletti (Montgomery, N.J.) found the back of the net in the closing seconds of the third for Western New England, but the Golden Bears would get no closer as the Saints outscored them 2-1 in the final period.
Western New England (3-2) will look to bounce back against crosstown rival Springfield College next Saturday at 1 p.m., before hosting No. 1 nationally ranked Tufts University on March 29 at Golden Bear Stadium.
