Western New England University Women’s Wrestling Adds Waverly KaneLong to Coaching Staff

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (January 5, 2026). — Western New England University Women's Wrestling has announced the hiring of Waverly KaneLong as an assistant coach, Head Coach Tyler Keane announced.

KaneLong joins the Golden Bears after a decorated collegiate career and a strong coaching résumé that includes success at the state, regional, and national levels.

As a student-athlete, KaneLong earned three Academic All-American honors, was a two-time Regional Placer, Regional Finalist, Pennsylvania Collegiate Champion, and National Qualifier. She also competed successfully in the NCWA, where she captured an NCWA Regional Championship and qualified for the NCWA National Championships.

KaneLong brings immediate coaching experience to Western New England. During the 2024–25 season, she served as a Team MASS coach, helping develop multiple State Champions, New England Champions, All-Americans, and a National Champion representing the state of Massachusetts.

In addition to her work with Team MASS, KaneLong has coached at several prominent clubs, including Bay State Wrestling Club, Prep Girls Wrestling, and KMW. In these roles, she has worked with athletes ranging from beginners to wrestlers competing for world team positions, showcasing her ability to develop talent at every stage.

"I'm incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Western New England," KaneLong said. "The culture, energy, and commitment to growth within this program are special, and I can't wait to get to work and help these athletes continue to improve on and off the mat."

Head Coach Tyler Keane expressed enthusiasm about the addition. "Waverly is an outstanding addition to our staff," Keane said. "She brings competitive experience, proven coaching success, and a passion for developing athletes that aligns perfectly with our program's values. Our student-athletes are going to benefit immediately from her presence, and we're excited about what she brings to the future of this program."
