Box Score ST. LEO, Fla. (March 11, 2026) – The Golden Bears flew down to Florida for a matchup with Widener University on Tuesday evening. Under the lights,
Jacob Roy and
Logan Proctor shined brightly. Roy scored seven goals and recorded one assist, while Proctor scored four goals and dished two assists.
Chris Catuosco made sure the team constantly had possession of the ball by winning 16-18 faceoffs taken.

How it Happened:
First Quarter:
- After coming off a tough loss the previous Saturday, WNE showed no lack of intensity early in Florida. Logan Proctor scored for the Golden Bears on an assist from Connor Cusolito 1:04 into the contest.
- That goal was matched quickly after by Samuel Haverstrom before WNE went on a 5-1 run to end the opening quarter. Josh Gagnon started the run with Jacob Roy providing the assist. Then, Roy would score a hat trick before the final horn sounded in the first quarter, and Logan Proctor secured a second goal in the run.
- Matthew Marino scored a late goal to cut the WNE lead to four before the opening quarter came to a close. WNE led the stat line as expected with a 6-2 lead. They had more shots (12-9), shots on goal (8-4), ground balls picked up (16-6), and faceoffs won (7-2). Both teams had two saves and four clears, but WNE was 4-4 on clears.
Second Quarter:
- The second went even better than the first, as WNE went on a 7-1 run throughout the quarter and started with seven consecutive goals. Again, Jacob Roy was at the center of the action, picking up two goals (the first and fifth of the quarter).
- Nathan Leone, Connor Callahan, and Logan Jenkins would score their first goals of the season during the WNE run. Proctor and Thomas Labbe would each get a goal in the second, as well. Proctor completed his hat trick with the twelfth goal of the game.
- Dylan Nardone, Logan Proctor, and Connor Cusolito each recorded assists during the quarter. Luke Shimko ended the second by scoring a goal for Widener, but the Golden Bears held a 13-3 lead at halftime.
- Again, the Golden Bears were all over the stat sheet, leading in shots (17-5), shots on goal (11-2), ground balls picked up (16-5), and faceoff wins (8-1). Widener had more saves (4-1) and clears (5-3), but WNE was again 100% when clearing.
Third Quarter:
- The third quarter of play saw WNE continue to stretch their lead thanks to Logan Proctor and Jacob Roy, who could not be stopped. After Widener's Matthew Marino scored the first goal of the second half, Josh Gagnon scored off a Thomas Labbe assist.
- Jacob Roy scored the next two goals to get Roy to his final tally of seven goals on the evening. Luke Shimko would stop the WNE run for a moment with Widener's fifth goal, but Proctor immediately answered off another Thomas Labbe assist. WNE had a 17-5 lead after the third quarter.
- Once again, the third quarter saw WNE lead in shots (9-4), shots on goal (6-2), ground balls picked up (10-7), and faceoff wins (6-1). This was the first quarter in which WNE failed a clear attempt. Widener had more saves (2-0) and clears (4-2).
Fourth Quarter:
- Another first goal of the season started the fourth quarter for WNE as Kevin Morina found the back of the netting off an assist from Connor Balletto. Dylan Nardone would add the lead with a goal assisted by Rafe Grant.
- Grant would not only help with a goal, but would score one also with 4:32 left in the contest. Grant's goal had WNE up 20-5. Widener responded with three goals of their own to end the match. Sean Alminde and Samuel Halverstrom recorded goals, while Luke Shimko scored a hat-trick goal before the final horn. WNE ended the game with a 20-5 victory.
- The Golden Bears led the stat sheet after the 20-8 victory versus Widener. WNE had more shots (51-30), shots on goal (30-15), ground balls picked up (54-28), and faceoff wins (25-7). The Pride had more saves (10-6), more clears (18-14), and less turnovers (21-24).
Inside the Lines:
- WNE defeated Widener 20-8 in Florida on Tuesday.
- Jacob Roy led the Golden Bears with eight points (7 goals and 1 assist).
- Logan Proctor had six points to add to Roy's eight (4 goals and 2 assists). Together, that combo accounted for 14-20 goals for WNE.
- Chris Catuosco had a phenomenal day from the faceoff dot, winning 16-18 and scooping 15 ground balls.
- Levi Kelly-Smith also took some faceoffs for WNE, winning 9-14.
- David Noel and Jack Gara held down the defense with three and two caused turnovers, respectively.
- Luke Shimko was the leader of the Widener attack, scoring three goals and assisting on three others (6-8 goals had Shimko involved).
