SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 9, 2026) – Members from former Western New England men's ice hockey teams gathered this past Monday afternoon inside the Downes Hall of Fame room on campus to reconnect, reflect on the past, and learn more about today's student-athlete experience. 

Attendees at Monday's reunion included former head coach Jim Ramah, as well as players Joe Sullivan, Peter Elkas, Randy Economidy, and Jeff LaBranche. Also in attendance were current Western New England women's ice hockey head coach Katie Zimmerman and men's ice hockey head coach Matt Smith. Director of Athletics and Recreation Jenn Kollins, Director of Development Robert Spellane, and Vice President for University Advancement Dean Hickey also joined the conversations with former players and coaches. 

Both Western New England ice hockey teams will return to the ice for the 2026-27 season at the end of October, with full schedules set to be released in the coming months.
