Bryan Hanson is the first tennis player to earn a spot in the Downes Athletic Hall of Fame. During his four-year career he compiled an overall record of 83-23 competing at both the No. 1 singles and doubles positions. His 78.3 winning percentage in singles and doubles competition is first on the school’s all-time list as is his 80.8 percentage in double action also is a school record. Hanson posted three 20-win seasons, including a 23-2 mark in 1999. Hanson captured the doubles title with Mike Raymond at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament in 2000. Hanson was twice the conference tournament runner-up in his singles flight and once in doubles competition. He also was named to the GNAC Academic Team. A two-year captain, Hanson was twice the Golden Bears’ Most Valuable Player. A native of Wantagh, New York, Hanson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He is a Police Officer in New York City.
