Emily Alland, a native of Mansfield, Massachusetts, is the first swimmer to be inducted into the Western New England College Downes Athletic Hall of Fame. During her career, she was a member of all of the Golden Bears' record-breaking relay teams and owned over half of the school records. She served as a team captain as a senior and held eight school records. Alland was undefeated in dual meet competition in both the 100-yard backstroke and 200 freestyle events all four years. Six years after her graduation, she still holds school marks in the 50 backstroke (29.62), 100 individual medley (1:05.50), and 200 individual medley (2:23.42). Alland, who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History, is currently attending graduate school at Simmons College.
