Matt Rogers '11 was a standout ace for the WNE baseball pitching staff during his four years at Western New England. Rogers was a World Series performer on the hill and earned many accolades while anchoring the blue and gold rotation. Rogers was named an All-American during his senior season in 2011, when the Golden Bears finished their season with an outstanding 42-11 record, making it to their first Division III College World Series. Rogers was named to the All-Region team in 2011, while also earning Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year and was the 2011 team captain. Rogers sits in the top 10 in WNE baseball career pitching in wins (30, tied 1st), innings pitched (271.0, 2nd), appearances (61, 2nd), and games started (34, 8th). Rogers also is etched into the single-season program records, including the top spot in wins in 2011 (11) while also grabbing the top spot in games started during the 2011 season (14).Â
